Cisco Serial

Connecting to Cisco products w/o serial ports!?!?

I found this adapter in my firewall box that seems to allow you to convert to parallel, however whenever I attempt to connect - no go. I believe in the past that if I recall, you can definitely send data to and fro on parallel, however ...I can't figure out what to do to get into this router as my new laptop doesn't have a serial port and the old one is gone!
YIKES.
Suggestions?
Please note to potential 'answerers' this is not a home router and the options are proprietary.

If you found a 25-pin adapter that looks like Parallel, it's probably just 25-pin serial. Those ports were common before the 9-pin versions took over.

There are USB to 9-pin serial adapters out there. That's probably what you're going to have to do... They vary in price. I've linked one for under $20 on Amazon.

I understand your pain. I have a PIX 501 and am in the same boat since none of the new laptops come with serial ports anymore. I usually end up dragging the Cisco device over to a desktop computer or one of the servers (all equipped with serial) to do configuration.
