can i start a wireless network without a ethernet port on my desktop?

my desktop pc is around 4 years old and doesn't have an ethernet port. i have cable broadband however i have recently got a laptop in another room and want to be able to access the internet on it. is there such a thing as a wireless router that connects via a usb port rather than an ethernet port? thanks

the answers is yes, you can have wireless access without having an ethernet port on your old pc...

this is what you need...
1. a wireless router that connect to your cable broadband (get a brand name router e.g. Linksys, Netgear etc)
2. a usb wireless ethernet adapter (this one connect to your old pc usb port)...

firstly connect the wireless router to your cable modem....
then you can either use wired or wireless ethernet to connect you laptop to the router
lastly, configure the usb wireless adapter on your old pc to connect to wireless router...

if you configure it correctly, you can connect to the internet wirelessly from your old pc...

hope that's help...
