Do I need a special Ethernet cable (or connectors) to take full advantage of a Gigabit Ethernet network?

Yes, both my Router and devices are Gigabit Ethernet capable.

CAT6 cables are rated for the speed of gigabit. But top grade CAT5E would work as well. Check your connection between your computer and router and see if it says 1000Mbps instead of 100Mbps. If it says 100 you need a CAT6 cable.

Otherwise your setup should be fine.
