Ethernet Splitter HELP?

I just move in the new shared flat and the wireless signal in my room was so poor that it keep disconnect every time people walk past the door.

So the landlord gave us one ethernet cable which link from the router, however i share a room and need one more ethernet cable to link to the other computer . After some research i found out about the Ethernet Splitter from ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RJ-45-Ethernet-Network-Splitter-Coupler-Connector-Plug_W0QQitemZ270278023691QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item270278023691&_trkparms=72%3A12|39%3A1|66%3A4|65%3A12|240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Wondering it will work???

note: 1) the router is very far from a room and dont think landlord would be happy if i have another cable run from the router. So I cant have another line direct from the router.

2) I have a BT home hub from my previous flat wonder is it can be used???

Thanks

You need to buy a router. A switch will work as well, but the router will isolate your HOME network from your landlord's network.

Your old hub should work as well.

That splitter from e-bay will NOT work.
