I have seen that this printer is used for communication. made some foregin receipt printers dot-matirx were built with serial ports that were RJ45 connections. The adapters were used to connect to the serial port of a PC. I do not know if it would work with a 98, but on the XP machine you run the "create a new connection wizard.
