I'm studying for CCNA, where can I buy cheap used cisco networking equipment?
I'm studying for my CCNA and I'm looking to purchase some cheap equipment to study and practice with. I'm not really sure exactly what kind of devices would be most helpful though. Does anyone have an recommendations on what I should buy to study for CCNA and where I can buy cheap used computer parts at?
Usually the best place to find older cisco gear is eBay.
Sometimes you can get good deals on Craigslist but it's rare.
Types of equipment that would help you are dependent on budget.
Every IOS router has the same structure for setup and commands, so you can learn on a lower class router and use the same techniques on high end enterprise grade.
Suggested routers :
2600 series (2610,2611,2621,2651) or the XM variants.
3600 series (3620, 3640, 3660, make sure it comes with NM's or you can find them cheap).
Suggested switches :
2900XL/3500XL (2912, 2924, 3512, 3524, 3548).
3550 if you need to do layer 3 switching, but they are a lot more expensive.
If you need things like CallManager Express, the XM's and 3600 series support that, depending on what IOS image you have installed.
