I made the mistake of buying braided/stranded CAT6 cable. Can I still use this for RJ45 keystone jacks?

The shape of the contact surfaces is different for stranded wire than for solid wire. Connectors for stranded wires look like a bladed that gets pushed length-wise through the wire. Connectors for solid conductor wires look like a fork that hold the wire on the outside on opposite sides. Both types of connectors are designed to cut through the insulation of individual wires and have the correct pressure to the contact surfaces of the wire and the connector.

Using the wrong connector for a given type of cable will not create a reliable contact. It may work in the short term (often only because of the elastic properties of the insulation material) but will eventually lead to intermittent contacts or complete contact failure.

So, the answer to your question is: Yes, you can connect stranded cable to a keystone jack if the keystone jack is for stranded wire (else you take a risk of the connection failing either immediately or eventually).

Now, there is something else you should consider: Cable length matters. The electrical properties (specifically capacity, attenuation and near-end cross-talk) of solid conductor are much better than for stranded wires. This limits the use of stranded wire to about 50 ft (as opposed to 300 ft for solid conductor wires). If you install wires that are longer than 50 ft including patch cords at each end, you should really think about installing solid conductor wires.
