How long does it take to transfer videos from a mini tape (a camcorder) to a PC via FireWire?

Say you have wanted to transfer the recordings to the entire tape to your computer. If this is done via FireWire how long should it take about Windows Vista?

Geoff the skier is OK ... when importing standard definition DV. In real time ... or 1 hour of DV = 1 hour time of importation. You did not specify which camcorder, so you do need to know that high definition (HDV) Import will, at best, in real time if you have a really fast processor - the more likely it will take more than that - but since it is processor speed dependent and we do not know what computer you use, it is difficult to say how long one hour of HDV * take * your computer to import. If your computer is one year, it can take two hours or more to import an hour of HDV. More ... Note that one hour of DV imported the use of approximately 14 GB of hard disk space and 1 hour of HDV imported used about 44 GB of hard disk space.
