Electrical cord has been chewed by a cat, how to fix?
I have a chi straightener like this http://cheapchihair.com/images/CHI-Nano-Flat-Iron.jpg
My cats chewed up the wire and when I turn the straightener on it works but there's always a flare or sparks. My dad said he can take it to a place where they replace the whole wire but is that true? Can we really get it fixed?
I would NOT repair the wire, I would REPLACE the wire, and here is why.
When animals chew cords, they have very sharp pin teeth and they pierce the insulation of the conductor and you will never find every potential short circuit.
I have been there, done that, and seen the results. This is first hand experience telling you to replace the entire cord, or buy a new hair straightener.
Just be glad that kitty survived.
Lesson learned.... put the thing AWAY next time.
